It’s been a while since our last newsletter, but we have some very exciting news to share. The Fire Department has been keeping busy responding on calls, training, and much more.
Over the weekend we had our annual inspection where the fire commissioners and invited guests inspect the personnel and apparatus. It is also a time to get all the apparatus cleaned and looking like new. We have been keeping busy over the past couple weeks cleaning the firehouse, tools and washing and waxing the apparatus until they shine. Here are some interesting facts and statistics from the last year: Continue reading
Sorry we missed you last month, as you might have seen we have been pretty busy. We are happy to announce that Rescue 85 has been delivered. We have spent the last couple of weeks mounting equipment, driver training, and recently had a drill where we used the new Hurst Extrication tools. There are just a few more items to finish up, and we hope to have the Rescue in service by the end of the month. As always, we will keep you updated and let you know when it is in service. Like us on facebook, and you can see all of the pictures we have taken so far. Continue reading
We hope that everyone has been enjoying the beautiful weather we’ve had over the past couple of weeks and also hope that you found our April safety tips to be helpful as we all get outside more.
We are delighted to share some of the exciting things that we’ve been working on. As you may know, the Armonk Fire Department is in the process of building a new Rescue pumper, Rescue 85. Our new piece of apparatus will be utilized as our community grows and will help us enhance many of the primary duties now performed by our current Engine 288. The Board of Fire Commissioners recently took a trip down to the KME factory in Pennsylvania to inspect Rescue 85. The construction is progressing smoothly and Rescue 85 looks great! We expect delivery within the next couple of months and plan to have Rescue 85 in service soon after that. Watch out for more pictures in the next week or so.

We are very excited to announce that the Armonk Fire Department has completed the specifications for our new apparatus and the bid was awarded to KME for a new rescue pumper. When responding to emergencies, whether it is a neighbor calling 911 or a residential alarm, we often find that there is no key holder available. In our efforts to help keep you informed, we are beginning to leave door tags at the entrance to your home in the event that no one was at home at the time of our visit. We will leave information as to the condition discovered, whether or not we gained entry, how we gained entry and what actions were taken. If you see one of our tags and have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Continue reading
We hope that everyone had a safe and happy New Year’s celebration, and that your new year started off well. December was a busy month for the department both with various events, calls, training and the holidays. Keep reading for all the details.
We hope you enjoyed coming to the Frosty the Snow Man Parade in Armonk on December 10th, and were able to participate in all the various activities in town. We got some great news about the results of the fire truck decorations and found out that the Armonk Fire Department received first place! We’d like to thank all the members who helped decorate the apparatus, and all the organizations in town who helped make the parade a success. Continue reading
We are very excited to share with you our first (hopefully) monthly newsletter. You can expect that we won’t spam you with tons of e-mails and useless information. Instead we will be sharing even more about what we do in the Armonk Fire Department; the kinds of calls we respond to, various safety tips, as well as important news and upcoming events.
As you’ve probably seen, we have a new website. This website is a vast improvement from our old one. We plan on updating it often so you know what’s going on in your community. Have you seen us responding to a call recently? Check back on the site and you might see a description of what we were doing. As always, if there is anything you are curious about, have questions, or want to learn more on a particular subject feel free to email us or comment on our website.
As the new year is approaching, and everyone is thinking about new years resolutions, consider making a resolution to help your local community and volunteering. We are always looking for Volunteers for Fire, EMS, or Both. You do not need any experience, and we will provide all the training for you. This is a great rewarding way to get involved with the community, and helping your neighbors. Check out the recruitment page for more info.
Newsletter coming soon! We will be sending out our newsletter later this weekend. Come back soon to read it in full on the website or subscribe to our mailing list below to get it e-mailed to you and stay up to date with what is happening.
