Please download and fill out the application below and bring it into the fire house on a Monday night (7:00pm) and ask to speak with one of the chiefs who will be pleased to assist you with the application process.
If you are interested in joining the Fire Department, or have any questions about joining, this is the place to be. We are looking for new members and you do not need any previous experience to join. All of the training is provided for you free of charge by the Fire Department whether you want to become a Firefighter, EMT, or both. Click on the link above for the application.
Requirements for Probationary Period
You will be on probation for a period of up to 18 months, after this period you will be either accepted or rejected depending on how you completed the probationary requirements. Your probation may be completed in less than 18 months, upon completion of your Fire Training and CPR course and or the EMT course. Additional time may be granted if the courses are not available.
Active Firefighters
You must pass Firefighter 1 and CPR training.
You must attend every Fire Company Meeting (unless training courses are scheduled on that date).
You must participate in every drill held by the Department (unless training courses are scheduled on that date).
You must attend twelve cleaning committees, which are held on Monday nights starting at 7:00 pm.
You must familiarize yourself with all the equipment carried on the apparatus.
You must learn how to use the Scott Air packs.
After completion of your required courses an officer will go over the equipment with you to see that you have complied with numbers 5 and 6 above.
You must make as many Fire and Ambulance calls as possible
You are subject to fines of the Fire Company
Every attempt should be made to attend all meetings, drills, or cleaning committees during your probationary period. Other than scheduled training courses, any absence must be cleared through one of the Chiefs.
After you have completed the above requirements you will be off probation, and a non-probationary active member of the Fire Company
Active Rescue Squad Members Rescue squad members must successfully all of the above with the following exceptions:
#1 Successfully complete the EMT course.
#5 You must familiarize yourself with all of the equipment carried on the ambulances.
#8 You must make as many Ambulance calls as possible.
Junior Members Are you between 16 - 18 but still want to be part of the fire department? You still can. Armonk Fire Department has a Junior member program where you can still be part of the fire department community and gain valuable experience.
