Knox Box
The Armonk Fire Department encourages you to install a Knox-Box system for home or business owners. The system helps the the Fire Department access your property reliably and quickly during an emergency when the owner or another key holder is not available to respond.
Reasons to install a Knox-Box:
Imagine this:
Early in the morning on the weekend your fire alarm system activates, and a signal is sent to your alarm company, they notify Westchester County Fire Control and the Armonk Fire Department is dispatched to your alarm location. We arrive and conduct a size-up of your location. The Officer in charge determines that we need to enter the building to continue the investigation. You are on vacation, and there is no one around with a key.
If a Knox-Box system is installed we request the Knox-Box key on our apparatus to be released via a signal from County Control. We are now able to unlock your Knox-Box on your property where there is a key to your protected location inside. We safetely unlock the door and continue our investigation. it is determined that there is no problem, your property is locked, your key is secure in your Knox-Box, and the Fire Department key is secured to the remote unlocking box on the apparatus. The Officer in charge radios County Control that there is no emergency and we leave the scene with no damage to your property.
If a Knox-Box system is not installed windows may be broken or doors forced. This causes owners to repair the damage and for a time the location is not as secure as it could be. You can see that with just use the Knox-Box system can pay for itself, and you can be assured that we will be able to quickly access your property.
